Philippians 1:3-6 "Developing A Sense of Security"

All of us need security.

Our Scripture gives us two lessons on how to develop a real sense of security.

Rejoice in the Partnership of Faithful People

Paul was excited about people.

Because people had been faithful in standing by him, he could rejoice.

If you are trying to handle life alone, you’re not going to feel very secure. You don’t have all the:

  • Wisdom you need.
  • Knowledge you need.
  • Abilities you need.
  • Resources you need.

You don’t have it all and you can’t do it all.

We need one another. 1 Corinthians 12:21

We are united in Christ. Galatians 3:28

Unity in Christ overcomes every barrier to a relationship.

We have Christ in common.

We can rejoice in the partnership of faithful people who are there to help us and support us.

Rely On The Power of a Faithful God

What do we see in verse 6?

  • God is at work.
  • Our salvation is His work.
  • Salvation is of God.

One of the greatest passages describing salvation is Romans 8:28-30.

God’s purpose in calling us is to conform to the image of Jesus Christ.

We are a work in progress! It is a process of transformation.

The process of transformation is called sanctification.

Sanctification is the process where we are progressively set apart for God.

Paul was confident that God could be trusted to finish the work He had begun in him. 2 Timothy 1:12.

Faith is trusting God.

Romans 8:31-32

If God is on our side, little else really matters.

Romans 8:38-39

Our eternal destiny is secure through the finished work of Christ.
